Bishport Avenue, Hartcliffe

Our first Bristol custom build site, right on the Southern edge of the city. All amenities are available nearby, while the open countryside of North Somerset and the Dundry slopes is accessible within a few metres.

We have recently obtained outline planning permission for four large, semi detached family homes, with plots now for sale.

Our intention is for the completed homes to be comparable in cost to other housing in the area, but built to a much higher standard of energy efficiency and comfort. The houses have been designed to allow for the installation of solar panels, and to take advantage of the South facing rear aspect, with full width glazing at ground floor level. Buyers can customise the specification, but our preferred construction system uses insulating, airtight woodfibre boards over the roof and external walls to keep the frame warm without trapping moisture, eliminating condensation risk and contributing to comfort.

In an outline application some details are considered to be ‘reserved matters’, meaning that they are not fixed at this stage. In this case the reserved matters include the external materials, doors and windows, landscaping, and internal layout. These will all be agreed in due course with the buyers of the plots, before the houses are built.

As the new homes are semidetached and the site is sloping, Hoos will organise all necessary groundworks and the installation of below ground services. It is also likely that Hoos will commission the construction of the structural frames on behalf of the new owners. But once these major works have been jointly completed, buyers may well choose to carry out the rest of the work themselves.
